9月1日下午是SHBS开学典礼。一早就有学生返校。有老生“熟门熟路”跑来问：需要我做义工吗？到了下午，校园里已停了好些车，家长送孩子们回到学校，一同来参加开学典礼了。

The afternoon of September 1st saw the opening ceremony of the new academic year. Early that morning, some students came back to the school. A couple of returning students who knew their way around the campus came and offered to be volunteers. By that afternoon, many cars had been parked on campus: many parents accompanied their children to school, and would attend the opening ceremony together with them.

William Wu beat the drums cheerfully and ignited the audience. Dance presented by Jenny Wang exited the whole auditorium. Smiling and encouraging himself by clapping in the first place, Peter Zhang played a piano solo named “Marriage D’Amour” by Richard Clayderman, enchanting the whole audience present.

一支浩浩的教职员工队伍上场了，一一介绍之后，猛然发现多了好几位美女老师。顺便复习一下，我们学校男老师帅帅的，亲们别看花了眼，你认得出几位来？接下来师生代表发言。

A big team of faculty members walked onto the stage. After they introduced themselves, we realized that several beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen had joined our community, dazzling our eyes. The opening ceremony was presided over by Principal Chris and Irene Ma.

最让人瞪大眼睛期盼的是表彰项目：经历一学年的校园生活“小荷已露尖尖角”：或“体育锻炼奖”、“行为规范奖”、“A级社团奖”；或“最强班级”及“最具竞争力班级”奖，“社会活动奖”；或“学业进步”、“学业优秀奖”；

What kept us expecting with wide-open eyes was the awarding ceremony. Having studied on campus for one year, many students have stood out in many areas.

当“金奖”获得者名字报出，场上一阵欢呼，当“创始人奖”名字以及名字后的奖金数一报，全场更是一片欢叫，获奖者普周琦同学略略动了动身体，朴素地朝大家笑笑。

When the winner of the gold award was announced, the audience burst into cheers. when the winner of the Founders Award and its amount of scholarship was announced, the audience cheered even more loudly. Jerry Pu, the winner, budged and simply smiled at everyone.

最后是Bowen总校长总结——责任、热情、选择；Bowen校长侃侃道来，给师生们、给这个学期注入了新的诠释。

Finally, Principal Bowen concluded the opening ceremony by talking about responsibility, enthusiasm and choice, making it meaningful and instructive.

开学典礼的喧哗彷佛击打在回音壁上，一声一声，伴着学生们各自找到自己的教室，进入课堂。

After the opening ceremony was over, all students found their way to their respective homerooms, with their talking and laughter echoing in the teaching building.

开学了，回来了！看见孩子们，就这么开心！S
