协和古北每年都会涌现一批学有所成又各有所长的优秀毕业生，今年亦不例外。在此我们特意采访了其中11位具有代表性的学生，让他们与各位同学、家长分享各自的经历与心得。

Many outstanding students graduate from SUIS-Gubei every year. This year is no exception. Here we have specially interviewed 11 of them and let them share their own experiences & ideas with you.

1、Your most memorable stories or moment(s) at SUIS-Gubei.

在协和古北就读期间，你最为难忘的经历是什么？

Ms. Narciso’s physics classes are also some of my most memorable experiences, especially in G9 and G10, when classes were ranked. Her classes are very enlightening and could very well have been the reason I got into physics.

Narciso老师的物理课让我记忆犹新，尤其是九年级、十年级分班选课的时候。她的课程很有启发性，这是我选修物理学科的一大原因。

2、What is your favorite subject and why?

你最喜欢的科目是什么？

Physics would be my favorite subject because it truly changes the world.

物理是我最喜欢的科目，因为这门学科改变了世界。

3、Have you overcome any challenges in your school life that you are proud of?

求学过程中你有遇到过什么挑战吗？你如何克服它的？

My academics back in Grade 6 were incredibly mediocre, so I undoubtedly overcame some challenges between now and then. However, I do not think there is anything to mention particularly, except that the real significant challenges are yet to come.   

我六年级那会成绩相当平庸，回过头看我肯定是克服了一些障碍才取得了今天的成绩。但我觉得没有什么是值得大说特说的，毕竟真正的挑战还在后头。

4、What helped you get admitted to your school, both on and off campus?

能从校内、校外两方面阐述下你是如何提升自我，最终斩获理想学校录取通知书的？

Aside from myself and my family, my college application relied solely on staff members at SUIS-Gubei and two instructors I met during my summer college experience. They offered valuable insights for my essays and must have written tremendous recommendation letters.

在学校升学指导老师的帮助下，我的大学申请完全是靠自己亲手完成的，我的家人也给予了充分支持。我曾参与过夏季学院，其中两位教员为我的文书提供了宝贵的意见，他们一定也写了不少推荐信。

5、Describe your thought process when making decision on your destination university. How did you decide which one to go for?

描述一下你选择目标大学时的思考过程。你又是如何决定最终去往哪一所院校的？

I withdrew most of my other applications after getting Notre Dame and Georgetown from Early Action, and it turned out that they were my two choices. Notre Dame and Georgetown are quite similar and are both exceptional universities. I ended up choosing Georgetown because of its urban location in Washington, D.C., which I believe could provide more “possibilities.”

在提前录取批收到圣母大学和乔治敦大学的录取通知后我就基本撤回了其他学校的申请。对我来说就是个二选一的过程。圣母大学和乔治敦大学有很多共性，都是相当优秀的大学。我最终选择了乔治敦大学，因为它位于华盛顿特区的绝佳位置，我觉得从这一点上来说它能给学生提供更多的“可能性”。

6、What do you think made you stand out in the admission process?

你认为是什么让你在申请大学的录取过程中脱颖而出？

My commitment to my areas of studies and my experience leading the MUN Club at SUIS for four years were some of the highlights. However, I think the real game-changer that got me into Georgetown was the interview. I will not go into the details, but the takeaway is that interviews are opportunities for demonstrating one-of-a-kind knowledge and talent, and that could take college applications to a whole other level.

我非常专注于自己的学业，同时我在四年里致力于参与、打造协和古北的模拟联合国社团。这是我申请中的亮点。不过我认为能成功取得乔治敦大学录取的关键点在于面试。我没法详细解释，但需要指出的是大学面试是一个展示你个人才学能力的独一无二的机会。这极大可能左右你大学申请的最终结果。

7、What are you most looking forward to about college?

你对大学生活有什么期待？

I look forward to developing my career and working/studying together with ambitious and talented people.

我很期待全新的学习生活和职业生涯。迫不及待和那些有才华有抱负的人们学习与共事！

8、What advice would you like to give to our lower grade students on the preparation of future study?

你对我们低年级的学生在学业方面有什么建议？

My advice is to not rely too much on other people’s advice. Whether it is exam techniques or essay strategies, you need to realize that everyone has unique circumstances, so what works for them may not work for you. I think what is important is that you give your best effort and be mentally prepared for the worst possible outcome, and usually things turn out better than expected.

我的建议正是“不要过分依赖他人的建议”。无论考试还是攥写文书，每个人的情况都不尽相同。对别人适用的方法对你可能就没什么用。我认为最重要的是你个人要尽到最大努力，同时在心理上为最糟糕的结果做好准备。通常来说，结果总是比预期得好。
